DHL Parcel UK -
'Twas a DHL Christmas

#video #engagement

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the warehouse all the people were stirring, as well as a mouse! Why? Well, it had been DHL Parcel UK’s busiest year yet. A year that tested the mettle of every single employee right across the business. A year filled with a plethora of highs, but just as many challenges in the form of COVID, lockdown restrictions, driver shortages and home-schooling (most gruelling). So, with Christmas fast approaching, DHL wanted to say thanks to every single, indispensable person who helped make the year such a success. And, with those people working across 40 different sites, 1000s of lorries and from homes up and down the country, video provided the perfect solution.

A big thank-you (like this) deserves more than a simple talking-head video, if it’s going to be effective, so that’s exactly what we delivered, along with a DHL Christmas hamper to every single employee.

Both the senior exec team and CEO Peter Fuller were fully behind our big festive idea, so we asked them to put on their best Jackanory voices and Christmas outfits, and join us on a specially built Dickensian set for the day.

There, they were handed a dusty old tome with a very special story in it – the story of DHL Parcel UK’s year – told in the style of the famous Clement Clarke Moore poem. Every success, every challenge, every achievement, contribution, award and milestone, all delivered with a big festive smile.

The video went out internally across DHL Parcel UK in the second week of December along with the fabulous Christmas hamper (to add weight to our words), before everyone took a very well-deserved festive break and was watched by people right across the business.

Indeed, the Christmas video post received the highest engagement of any DHL intranet post with thousands of views and almost 100 comments. Their warm feedback (and bad puns) certainly confirmed just how important our Christmas message was to them.
